"For more than a year, X has brought together the creative community in D.C. in a new and exciting way that mixes competition, audience participation and a larger variety and context of art than can be experienced just about anywhere else in the metro area.
X begins at 6 p.m. sharp with a challenge — three local graphic artists (selected prior to the event) are given three keywords which they then use as inspiration to create a piece of computer art in four hours. They must blend their prowess of Photoshop, Illustrator and whatever other design software they have at their disposal on their own computers to create something that combines the thematic keywords (erotic, liquid, and half-tone were recent keywords) together with X’s mathematical maxim, “X = Live ( Performance + Art + Projections + Electronica + Fashion ) + You.”
The catch? The artists’ computers are all hooked up to projectors so that the evening’s attendees can watch their creative process every step of the way..." - On Tap Magazine
